PROJECTS / SPRING STREET
High-rise Project in the Heart of Melbourne
Architectus and Christoph Ingenhoven have designed an iconic tower that blends a dynamic public space with a cutting-edge future workplace. Situated on Melbourne’s vibrant Flinders Lane, the A-Grade building is set to achieve 5.5 Star NABERS and 5 Star Green Star ratings. It will be adjacent to the heritage-listed Shell House at No. 1 Spring Street, an award-winning late modernist office tower designed by Harry Seidler.
In collaboration with Harry Seidler & Associates, the currently underutilized forecourt will be transformed into an inviting public plaza. An internal courtyard will connect the existing modernist Tower 1 with the new Tower 2, creating a seamless transition between the external and internal plazas that extends the public realm into the core of the development, drawing visitors through to Flinders Street.
Further enhancing the public space, the neighboring art nouveau Milton House will be integrated and renovated, featuring new retail frontage, landscaped seating, and a sheltered tree canopy.
The tower’s massing and design pay respect to the heritage buildings around it. The sculpted form preserves Milton House as a distinct, standalone element while highlighting its importance in the fine-grain character of the streetscape.
