CPO 1 Bligh Sydney
Christoph Ingenhoven, in collaboration with Architectus, designed the fit-out for the new Sydney Commonwealth Parliament Offices (CPO) situated across three levels at 1 Bligh Street, which was also designed by the same team. Sharon Brigden, NSW State Manager for Ministerial and Parliamentary Services at the Department of Finance, noted that the architects “fully understood our requirements from very early on and not only delivered a fit-out that met our brief to the letter, but also completely exceeded our expectations.”
The offices provide a distinctive environment for Australian government Ministerial and Parliamentary staff while visiting New South Wales and serve as a crucial gateway for Parliamentarians meeting international dignitaries. The primary design objective was to create flexible and highly secure office accommodation for both public and private use, while fully capitalizing on the unique attributes of 1 Bligh.
The design, inspired by Sydney's unique character, incorporates natural daylight, harbor views, transparency, coastal form, and local materials. The CPO includes suites for the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, and other federal Ministers, as well as conference and meeting spaces, media and press rooms, and related facilities.
Thanks to the team’s in-depth understanding of 1 Bligh’s base building design, the fit-out has been designed to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Office Interiors v1.1 rating.
