PROJECTS / RESIDENTIAL BUILDING DUISBURG
Residences Inner Harbour Duisburg
The two building blocks running parallel to the canal waterway contain 66 residential units and together with the main building end feature are designed to follow the urban planning principle of block edge development. The blocks are 4-storey and have a recessed tiered arrangement of floors. The highly elemental, distinctly oriented buildings are split up by the embedded transparent staircases. The staircase sets out the way into the inner courtyard contained within the blocks. The principle of construction of this building is based on load carrying components made from precast concrete. The staircase cross-walls, projecting loggia components and the prefabricated stair units themselves are precast concrete, all connected together on site, and completed with a filigree floor construction. All the façade surfaces enclosing the residential units were designed based on storey-high prefabricated elements. To allow all the competing claims on the space behind them to be fulfilled in an objective flexible manner, the glazed basic modules were also designed as sandwich panels.
